In Scotland, literature begins on the principle that hungry dogs hunt the best.
THE COMPLETE CROCKETT
Crockett had many articles and sketches published in a variety of magazines from the 1870's to the 1890's. Most of these were anonymously written and impossible to trace. He had 46 full length novels, 3 novellas, 6 collections of short stories , 6 works for children and 3 non fiction works published in his lifetime with a further 3 works published posthumously between the years 1917 and 1926.
The majority of Crockett's work is now back in print thanks to Ayton Publishing Limited. In 2014 they published the 32 volume 'Galloway Collection', in 2015 the lost serial Peter the Renegade' was published for the first time and they continue to produce new editions of Crockett's writing, biographies and books about him.
Grouping Crockett's work is difficult. Not only do his book cross (and reinvent) the genres of history, adventure and romance; they also travel extensively across Scotland, Britain, Europe and further afield. They span history from medieval to early 20th century.
